2016 “Dog Day on Broadway” A Huge Success

Our fourth annual Healthy Dog Day, this year named “Dog Day on Broadway,” was an amazing event, with 130 dogs vaccinated for Rabies and 92 dogs microchipped. Thanks to the support of the veterinary and rescue community, the vaccine clinic was fully staffed by compassionate team members dedicated to serving the low income Ybor City Community. With four exam rooms running non-stop for over 3 hours, the team provided full exams for each pet, addressed individual pet issues, and discussed responsible pet ownership. With the assistance of the Hillsborough County Pet Resource Center, Rabies tags were also provided to residents.

The mission of Vets4Pets Charitable Clinic is to provide compassionate care to those truly in need, and Saturday’s event was no exception. Thanks to the Suds on Sunday Dog Wash held in January at Fergs Live, the event was completely free for local residents. Additional thanks to Merial for providing vaccines, and to the Veterinary Center at Fishhawk and Veterinary Surgical Services for providing breakfast and lunch for our volunteers. Most of all, thanks to all the wonderful doctors, nurses, students, animal rescues, and handlers who gave of their time to serve the community. Without volunteers and their heart for service, the event would not have been a resounding success. We look forward to next year and another opportunity to serve those less fortunate.
